The Declaration of Independence turned 250 this year. Alan W. Green thinks its designers left more on the page than most of us ever read.
Alan has spent twenty-two years decoding what he calls hidden messages in Western literature, starting with the question of who wrote the works credited to Shakespeare. His work includes the book Dee-Coding Shakespeare and the Gaia series Shakespeare Decoded. He first brought The America Codes to No Way Out in Episode 113. This time he came back for the anniversary, with my co-host James “Bart” Bartelloni in the room.
Alan argues that geometric and mathematical patterns were placed in the Declaration, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Great Seal on purpose. He walks through the two “mistakes” in the Declaration that he says point to the Great Seal, and the 12, 13, 5 triangle he finds in its geometry.
Outside information and orientation
Our job on this show is to take outside information seriously and run it against orientation. John Boyd put genetic heritage, cultural traditions, previous experiences, new information, and analysis and synthesis inside orientation, and orientation sits at the center of the OODA loop. It shapes what we are able to observe before we observe it. A room that refuses to dismiss anything on sight gets to watch destruction and creation happen.
You decide how much of Alan’s case you accept. Bart put himself at 51 percent and said so on the record. Near the end, Alan turns to practical ways to use the codes, and his answer comes back to orient and reorient.
Apollo to Artemis
Alan’s new book is The America Codes, Phase One: From Apollo to Artemis, the first in a series. He explains how the book found its title and why the Artemis II mission became part of it. The conversation also runs through the precession of the equinox, the fourth turning, and Michael Levin’s platonic space.
What did you dismiss on sight this year that deserved a second look?
