Sean Ring has lived in London, in Asia and now in Italy. He writes The Rude Awakening. Mark “Moose” McGrath and I asked him for a global read on markets, geopolitics and where politics and economics meet.
A global view
Sean thinks the United States remains the most viable market for investment. He also sees global economic and political shifts creating new opportunities and new risks. His time abroad gives him a different angle on US markets and capital flows.
Automation and supply chains
Sean sees automation as inevitable. We talk about the strain on global supply chains and what tariffs mean for China, Russia and Europe. The Belt and Road Initiative and immigration come up too.
The Fed and the data
Sean is critical of the Federal Reserve and of how inflation gets reported. He talks about the fallout of poorly executed policy. He also sees legacy media losing ground to platforms like X.
Sean takes a contrarian view. He keeps an eye on macro trends and challenges the assumptions most people carry. For us, that is orientation applied to markets.
This episode is not investment advice.
Which assumption about the economy would you most like to test?
