Demi Pietchell is the creative mind behind Starfire Codes. Mark “Moose” McGrath and I like bringing on people who sit outside the mainstream, and Demi was a conversation Mark had wanted for a long time. We covered free speech, consciousness, ancient history and the stories people tell us.
Speech and platforms
Demi talks about the time Twitter removed her account. She sees comedians like Jimmy Dore and JP Sears changing the media landscape. We discuss how Substack and similar platforms have become places for open conversation.
Consciousness and energy
Demi draws on quantum physics and metaphysical writing to argue that consciousness runs through all matter. She talks about gratitude and positive energy, and how beliefs may shape the reality we experience. These are her views, and we explore them as questions.
History and media
We look at ancient civilizations, the suppression of information and possible links between past cultures. Demi also walks through how media narratives shaped public understanding of the JFK assassination and the Vietnam War. She talks about how the films we saw young shaped our perceptions.
For us, this is about orientation. The stories we absorb become part of how we see everything else. Staying curious keeps that picture open to revision.
Which story about history did you accept without ever checking it?
